John Deere Waterloo Works, Tractor and Cab Assembly Operations, is seeking a Supervisor to supervise primarily 3rd shift for cab weld. In this position, you will: Supervise approximately 40 employees within two production weld departments. Ensure proper employee training, and that they have the necessary tools to perform their jobs. Responsible for departmental 5S, housekeeping of the department, and safety programs. Administer all employee issues (Vacation/Line Performance/Productivity) and insure that employees adhere to policies, practices, procedures and work rules. Responsible for taking corrective action including discipline. Monitor, plan, and provide direction to meet metrics for both the customer and the business. These include productivity, quality, efficiency, safety, cycle time and customer service. Responsible for following the UAW contract and enforcement as necessary. Continually monitor schedules and analyze workloads due to changing business conditions. Adjust workforce to meet these workloads effectively and efficiently. Work with all daily contacts and support areas to attain agreeable and best solutions to problems and improvements. Work with both salaried and wage reports to provide guidance, help remove roadblocks, provide feedback and support and assist them to achieve high level results and satisfaction. Work with and promote the Continuous Improvement (CI) Grow process. Be responsible for employee training and certification, managing Continuous Improvement, insuring quality and safety, cost objectives, and delivering product to several customers. Education Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business Management, or equivalent 5+ years manufacturing experience. Required Skills and Experience Demonstrated leadership skills. Manufacturing knowledge and experience. Working knowledge of the standard computer systems, i.e. Microsoft products. Knowledge of general accounting in support of establishing and managing departmental operating budgets. Must be willing to work a variety of shifts and overtime as required. Effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal, organization, and problem solving skills. Proven leadership and team building skills to initiate action and solutions concerning employees and overall direction of department. Ability to learn quickly. Ability to monitor, plan and provide general direction to attain desired performance results for both the customer and business. These include productivity, quality, efficiency, safety, cycle time and customer service. Ability to handle conflict and motivate others to perform at high levels. Desired Skills and Experience Supervisory or other manufacturing experience in a union environment. Familiarity with Quality planning and execution. Working knowledge of SAP (Labor Reporting/Production Planning/Supervisor Transactions). Knowledge of shop floor manufacturing incentive production pay systems. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time, Kanban, Demand Flow Technology. Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance and facilities.
